Behind the fencings masked by foliage, Shakespeare Garden at Golden Gate Park provides a romantic setting for a wedding in one of San Francisco's most popular attractions. Upon entering the charming iron gateway, prepare yourself for a dreamy journey to create your own tale of love and devotion.
You may have read Romeo and Juliet in high school, or seen the modern adaptations of Shakespeare's plays across the silver screen, but have you ever witnessed the colorful outburst of the various blooms that illustrated the famous lines of the Bard? Located in Golden Gate Park, Shakespeare's Flowers takes in the theme garden of plants and flowers mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare. Examples of such an attraction are often cultivated in parks, universities, and locations where annual Shakespeare festivals take place.
There are more than 200 flowers and plants located in Shakespeare's Flowers. The flower arrangements accompany visitors to the pages of historic comedies, tragedies and sonnets, bronze plagues engraved with remarkable quotations. It is here that the guests gather to admire and absorb the cultural and educational significance of the garden. Shakespeare's Flowers is also a popular outdoor wedding venue, as the romantic scene of calming green and colorful displays of nature intensifies the warm surroundings.
As you step inside the intricately crafted gate of Shakespeare's Flowers, the Sunny will soon greet you along a brick-shaped path. Continuing down the walkway, to the left, a garden content chart identifies the different types of plants that dance on the pages of Shakespeare's works. Throughout the garden, a variety of benches are the perfect place to rest your feet and take in the sights. Many visitors come with their collection of plays and become completely immersed in the tranquility and comfort that the garden has to offer.
As you move to the farthest end inside the garden, a locked box set inside a brick wall is your curiosity. There are six bronze panels surrounding the scene, where the bust of William Shakespeare resides in the box. There are only two of them in existence and they can be observed with the say-so of the park officials. Until then, you'll just have to read panels that contain floral quotations donated by a variety of local cultural associations.
The highlights of the garden include an attractive brick wall, a rustic sunset, endless photo opportunities, and two rows of trees that line a possible wedding aisle. Couples often save money on wedding decor, because the garden provides an exquisite atmosphere that doesn't need to be spruced up. As far as public outdoor places are concerned, Shakespeare Garden is quite private with a relaxing quiet that differs from other parts of the park. You're going to enjoy a sense of privacy while exchanging your vows. Since no amplified sound is allowed in the Garden, your music choices are limited to live musicians (such as harpists), singers, or low-level 'boom box' music.
